Director of Television Engineering LOCATION: 25 South Stockton Street, Trenton NJ SALARY RANGE: $130,000 - $160,000
The New Jersey Department of the Treasury, Public Broadcasting Authority (NJPBA), is seeking applicants for a Director of Television Engineering (working title) position in Trenton, New Jersey. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the successful candidate will manage statewide broadcast engineering operations for seven licensed NCE television stations.
Responsibilities include 24-hour technical and administrative support for all NJPBA broadcast facilities; strategic planning and capital budget development; and technical liaison between the NJPBA Engineering Department, Treasury, and state agencies and tenants sharing NJPBA facilities and infrastructure.
The candidate will supervise all FCC-required documentation, including Station Logs, EAS Logs, Transmitter Logs, and the Public File, serving as Chief Operator. Additional responsibilities include oversight of NJPBA vertical assets (towers) and associated structural documentation; contractor management at all facilities; and administration of tower tenant agreements covering contract development, renewal, Board resolution preparation, and accounts receivable support.
The position oversees broadcast-related IT infrastructure, IP-based signal distribution systems, and cybersecurity compliance. Project management duties span budgeting, design, procurement, equipment installation, and staff training. The standard workweek is Monday through Friday.
This position may be eligible to participate in the Department's telework program, which allows eligible employees to work remotely up to two (2) days per week, as approved by management.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience. An FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License or Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) certification (CBT, CBTE, or CPBE) is most desirable.
Experience
Five to seven years of experience as a Maintenance or Broadcast Engineer at a television station. Proficiency in IP-based broadcast infrastructure, including SMPTE ST 2110, NDI, and JPEG-XS transport protocols; ATSC 1.0 transmission systems; and solid-state transmitter operations and maintenance. Experience with EAS CAP-compliant alerting systems, UDP/RTP and ASI transport streams, and video encoding/decoding equipment is required. Strong computer and networking skills. Cybersecurity awareness is essential. Working knowledge of MS, OS, Linux and AutoCAD LT is required.
Notes
The candidate shall be able to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and during declared weather emergencies. Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds and work independently under deadlines and time constraints. Note Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience on a year-for-year basis. Special Note The ideal candidate shall have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with agency officials, vendor representatives, and state and federal regulators. Candidates should be prepared to provide writing samples as part of the interview process. License Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey in order to perform the essential duties of the position.
